THE DIGEST TEAM
Some of the people who make the magazine happen
- Andy Sanson – after Roger
lifetime rider Andy
is the magazine’s longest
standing contributor. He lives
in beautiful Powys and writes
delicious Victor Meldrew
flavoured articles that never fail to amuse.
- Dave Gurman – riding since 1975, writing for TRD since 2000. He took
over as editor in January ’06 and produced issues 101 - 140. He will continue to contribute the kind of entertaining, incisive, and
occasionally challenging pieces that regulars have come to expect.
- Dave of the Desert – our off
road correspondent, looks
strange without a motorbike.
Celebrated his 50th in 2007
along with old pal Milky
(below) by completing the
Classic Paris Dakar on a 70’s XT500.
- Geoff Thomas - former London courier and hugely entertaining writer. His mammoth round the globe ride ‘Poor Circulation’ was serialised in the mag last year. Geoff is now ‘open to offers’ when we’re not using him for road tests and other assignments.
- Harriet Ridley – Harriet is an
experienced motorcycle
journalist who has worked
for MCN, Performance Bikes,
TWO, Superbike, the
Telegraph, & the
Independent; but her fave is TRD.
- Ian Cobby – Ian raced for
16yrs (including BSB and
World Endurance) and won
several national
championships. He came to
TRD as part of a talented
package deal as Harriet’s personal snapper.
- John Newman – riding bikes
since the 60’s. Began
contributing in ’02 and liked
it so much he bought the
company. Since January ’06
he’s continued to write, while
providing the business impetus,
- Lab-X Design – Web wizards
`Stewart Pettey and Mike Hall
have transformed TRD’s
web presence to a slick but
low-key site, which reflects
the production values of
the magazine.
- Lois Fast-Lane – an ex-courier
and current motorcycle
trainer, she will soon be
embarking on an MSc in
Traffic Behaviour. She has
been producing intelligent, and thoroughly entertaining articles for TRD
since 2000.
- Mad – He might be Mad but
he isn’t stupid and he
certainly knows his business.
Responsible for the design
and layout of TRD ever since
issue 8 almost ten years ago.
He still bares the scars.
- Martin Newman – Started writing for us at 16 as the first ‘Boy Biker’, Now ‘graduated’ to writing features where he brings his own quirky humour and irreverent insights to the mag. Oh…and he takes good pictures too.
- Milky – has been living,
breathing and riding
motorcycles longer than
anyone can remember. The
other half of the Digest to
Dakar team, he’s worked in
the London courier industry since its infancy.
- Patrick Handscombe – A Renaissance man who worked in such diverse jobs as deep sea diver & motorcycle courier where he met some Digest stalwarts.
His column ‘The Last Word First’ refers to the fact that he has enjoyed the last word in every argument & debate with them down the years.
- R6 Girl – TRD’s own Carrie
Bradshaw: a thirty-something
girl about the metropolis.
Passionate about
motorcycling, she gets just as
excited about a titanium
exhaust for her R6, as the teeniest pair of
Manolo Blahniks.
- Rod Young – has a habit of acting on mad impulses which has seen him riding from London to Edinburgh for lunch and across Europe to attend the snowbound Elefant rally. Rod is now our ‘rally correspondent’ and pens the regular features ‘Nuts and Bolts’ and ‘What’s in Your Garage’.
- Roger Tuson – Recently welcomed back to the Editor’s chair, and he’s as excited as a two tailed puppy about the magazine. Doesn’t he realise that there are more than twice as many pages now???
Roger recognises a winning formula, so no drastic changes will be occurring.
- Sarah G – a relatively new
rider who has shared her
experiences as a woman
starting out in the wonderful
world of motorcycling –
including her test and her
first trip to the Isle of Man TT – with the
TRD readership.
- Simon Kewer – we are very fortunate to have a cartoonist and illustrator of his experience. Another life long biker he produces the ‘Workshop’ strip and anything else the Editor dreams up.
- Wildcard Photography
Father and son Dennis and
Matthew Smith are Image
of the Month regulars.
Made their name taking
trackday action shots, but
nowadays specialise in beautiful portraits
of classic motorcycles.
- Wildcat – has been riding for
almost a quarter of a
century; and aside from road
testing new machines for
TRD, she’s also produced
reports on her spectacular
trips across Mongolia.
